Greater Capital Region Teacher Center
GUIDE TO THE RESOURCE COLLECTION 2010 - 2011

Professional Development for Teachers, by Teachers

The Policy Board and Staff of the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center are proud to announce the Guide to the Resource Collection 2010 in its new form. The materials collected here reflect recent best practice in instructional design emerging from the very specific needs of teachers and students in their own classrooms, grades, departments, and/or schools. The ingenuity and expertise of the GCRTC Grant winners support our work as we assist young people in achieving higher learning standards and meeting more vigorous academic requirements.

In addition to GCRTC's Grant Project Reports (1985 to present), the user of the Guide can access other valuable non-grant items including learning kits, videos, and professional development books, listed under Supplementary Resources. New York State Archives and Records Administration (SARA) grant project reports completed by area teachers during Summer Institutes at the Center are also available for use by teachers and others interested in using local government records and primary sources as a basis of increasing student engagement in learning, integrating curricula, and enhancing course content with document based lessons.

Resource Materials are only available for loan to constituent members of GCRTC. Educators are invited to explore our searchable database (on CD or online at www.teachercenter.org). Materials may be requested for a three- week period by completing the Resource Request Form within this Resource Guide (online), or printing the Request Form found on the CD and faxing or mailing to the Teacher Center.

GCRTC is proud to acknowledge and share the accomplishments of our colleagues by making these invaluable resources available for inspiration, application, and replication. We hope that as you peruse the Guide, you will be tempted to contact us to arrange the borrowing of resources to support your own teaching. Maybe you and some of your colleagues will apply for your own grant award and become "collected" as well!
